Stayed in this pousada because of the location between Lisbon and Oporto. Received a warm welcome by the person at the reception.Had dinner in the restaurant for 2 nights. The last night there were some metal particles in the soup I ate. I pointed this out to the waiter serving me. The soup was taken to the kitchen for a closer inspection and the message was that it was part of a cleaning device used for cleaning the soup pan. They did not apologise or anything to me. Later I complained about this to the management, but I never received a response. The Dinner was a downer because of this, also overpriced in relation to the quality. Service in the restaurant was ok. The first morning I wanted to have breakfast, but the entire breakfast room was occupied by some group of elderly people , leaving no space left to have breakfast. Since I had to go to an appointment, I had to go without breakfast. I’ll avoid this place in the future , and I cannot recommend it.
This was our first experience of Pousadas and it could not have been better. From the moment we arrived everybody was most welcoming and tried to make us feel as though we were guests in their home. The reception staff smiled and explained evertthing very clearly. The rooom overlooking the garden wa slarge and well equiped. We had ordered the golden age passport and this was all ready for us when we arrived. As we only used this as a one night stop before going on further north to other Pousadas we were happy just to explore the local town and then return to eat here. The food was well presented and very tasty – we could probably eat a little cheaper in the town. Breakfast was just right, although do not expect an “Full English. “The only minor complaints, and these apply to all Pousadas, the safe could be alittle larger and the beds a little softer – but that is all we could moan about! A great start to out holiday, thank you to all involved with this Pousada.
The hotel and the room were very nice but we were very disappointed with the restaurant. We were there for dinner and he food and service were mediocre. Breakfast was ok. We stayed in five possadas and we experienced the same thing in each of them, the setting was wonderfull but the food was mediocre.
This was the second time we stayed at Santa Christina. I was with my very young grandchildren (4) and they loved the grounds and the pool. The people in the restaurant were very accommodating and set a table in the terrace for us, as we asked. The service was good and the fish we had was excellent. We like it specially for its proximity to Coimbra and Conimbriga. In general everyone was very polite and helpful. We would stay again in this hotel.
