Family friendly hotels

Portugal is a great holiday destination for families. Its a beautiful country with lots to see and do and children are very welcome (and warmly greeted) in most places.

We have handpicked the best hotels and resorts for families in Portugal for children of all ages. Most of these hotels have, at a minimum, family rooms, kids menus, a seasonal kids club, a children’s pool and a playground. If they haven’t got these, there is a good reason to have been included them.

Whilst all of the hotels we have picked below are great for kids and are sure to offer a fun and relaxing holiday for all ages, I particularly love the Martinhal resorts for younger children.   These hotels, resorts and apartments were specifically designed for children (rather than designed for adults but catering for children) but have maintained the luxurious standards of 5 star hotels.  Everything you need when travelling with small kids has been catered for.  These hotels aim to offer parents a relaxing holiday, whilst making sure that kids have fun, and they so this brilliantly. My personal favourite is Martinhal Cascais as it offers the best of both worlds… its a resort near great beaches but its only 30 mins away from beautiful Lisbon – particularly great from April to June and mid-September to end October – you are likely to have ‘beach weather’ on some days, and you can enjoy Lisbon and surrounding area if its overcast.
