Pousada of Obidos – 1 night

From Lisbon airport, the Pousada of Obidos is easily reached in under one hour’s drive. Obidos is a beautiful medieval small town within the walls of a 12th century Castle. The Pousada of Obidos is set within the castle. This is the perfect base from which to enjoy the village with its extremely pretty cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings.

Pousada of Queluz – 2 nights

In under one hour’s drive you should be at the stunning Pousada of Queluz, which is in the former accomodation block of the Royal Guards of the Palace of Queluz, a magnificent Rococo palace known as ‘the Portuguese Versaille”. This Pousada is very well located for exploring Lisbon (only 14 kms away or 15 mins by train) and the other interesting towns in the area, including Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pousada of Cascais – 2 nights

Cascais is only 25 kms from Queluz but it’s very different in style. A cosmopolitan beach town popular with early 20th century European royaly and aristocracy. Formerly a small fishing town, nowadays fashionable shops and restaurants line elegant pedestrianised streets. Cascais has a small beach in the town centre, however, a number of magnificent sandy Atlantic beaches are easily reached, including the spectacular “Praia do Guincho”.
