The Pousada de Sao Bras de Alportel has magnificent views of the surrounding Algarve mountains and towards the distant Atlantic ocean.

Although it still has a Moorish feel to it, most of the town was rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake giving it elegance associated with that period.Tavira used to be a major centre of tuna fishing, but a few years ago the catches declined and today the industry has ceased.

Twenty-five kms southwest of Sao Bras de Alportel is the coastal resort of Vilamoura. Here there is a large marina surrounded by shops and bars. This is the place the locals promenade in the evening.
There is also a casino and some of the best golf courses in the country are in the resort.
East of Sao Bras, the town of Loule is a must for shopaholics. Its big Saturday market is sure to provide something for everyone.The town is an important craft centre specialising in pottery, leather goods and copper ware. Take a walk round the town, looking at the amazing number of individually decorated chimneys, showing the artistic flair and imagination of the people.
The Pousada Sao Bras has 33 bedrooms. It is air conditioned, has a lift and is accessible to the disabled.
There is a swimming pool in the gardens which is open during the summer months. There is also a tennis court.
It makes the ideal resting place for those wanting an Algarve destination away from the crowds.
