Pousada in Murtosa/Torreira
Pousada in Murtosa/Torreira – Ria de Aveiro
Located in the isthmus that connects Murtosa to the beaches of Sao Jacinto, the Pousada de Murtosa Torreira, Ria de Aveiro is set in a preserved area with a unique natural beauty.

From the balconies of this nature hotel it is possible to overlook the Ria de Aveiro, and on peaceful evenings you can appreciate the fishermen at work on the traditional “Moliceiros” boats.
Surrounded by water, this is the ideal spot for fishing, water sports or going to the beautiful beaches which are near the Costa Nova’s typical colourful houses.

This was our last pousada on our tour around the northern and central parts of Portugal. We absolutely LOVED the location and the peacefulness. Reception staff were fantastic and helpful. VIsited the surrounding towns and beaches, marina and had a delicious lunch overlooking the river. Take a ferry boat ride to Aveiro , visit the small towns and of course the beaches ! Pousada had a nautical theme but very comfortable and clean. Take time to sit out on the balconies and take in the views .It was one of of favorite places on the Ria and plan to visit again to explore the area more ! Many thanks.
The last days of May, 2011, we spent in Pousada Murtosa. Welcome was warm and friendly: with all other staff contacts we experienced this as well. The hotel was comfortable: (early!) sunrise was beautiful!
Biking and hiking trails in the direct viscinity of the hotel are lacking. These could have made the stay even more special.
The view is excellent, but the hotel is not up to standard. Prices for
food and room are out of proportion. Not to recommend
Gewitter,
unbeschreiblich. Ebbe, unglaublich diese Bilder. Flut, Boote wie im Traum. Am Tage die stundenlangen Wanderungen am Strand. Damals menschenleer.
Leute, reist nach Portugal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a wonderful 4 day stay at the Pousada, the staff were outstanding and the food and facilities excellent. We have visited many other Pousadas but this one stood out for us because of the natural beauty of the location, the view over the water from the dining room is memorable. The immediate area is very interesting, not only for the beaches but also for the Nature reserve at Sao Jacinto (the restaurant at the gates serves great fish for lunch).
Upon entering the lobby of the Pousada Ria, one is immediately transported to circa 1960. The small rooms, while clean and adequate, appear to have been renovated more than 10 years ago and are in need of updating. Despite the fact it enjoys a privileged location on the Ria, this pousada falls woefully short when compared to other accomodations in the pousada network.
Unfortunately, our dinner experience at the pousada’s restaurant was likewise disappointing. The prices were quite high and, on this particular evening, the food was barely edible. Breakfast was just o.k.
While it seems to me that one would want more than mere adequacy at these prices, there appears to be no impetus for improvement in that there are very few lodging options in this region and thus no real competition.
If you are looking for luxury accomodations, you will not find it at the Pousada Ria. You will find, however, a very competent and polite staff who will do their utmost to make your stay pleasant.
I visited, and spent the night. Upon leaving, I had to go back and eat again.
This is astounding, with the wealthy of dining options: Hearts of cockle, “Chora” Soup Faces Cod with tomatoes, Ray Pitau in sauce, with boiled potatoes in their skin; Goat stuffed with oven-roasted new potatoes and vegetables, the Pousada Confectionery, in which the egg-pudding is a sweet binding on the table.
We can find all these dishes, and even more in Pousada da Ria de Aveiro.
But if you think that this Pousada only going to eat you are mistaken, because the activities around the estuary are such that there is not a uninteresting moment on the agenda of the visitors.
Fishing, boating, hiking and biking, river beaches, and wildlife of the dunes of San Jacinto, make this site one of the most beautiful destinations in Portugal.
We still remember our visit to Pousada de Ria… Not for the wonderful stay it should have been! but for the location (right on the laguna which smells rather bad). the gap between the quality and the prize (unacceptable) the breakfast buffet (rather poor compared to other places…), the room too small for an establishment supposed to be first class…This hotel does not deserve the name of POusada and we for sure will not come back and even recommed it to our relatives and friends.. U. Muller,
We stayed at the Pousada in the last week of April. It was even more beautiful than you can see at the pictures. Everything was just perfect; truly a hotel I will never forget and cetainly will return to.
What made the most impression on me was the view when we were having breakfast, the kindness of all the people working there (and I mean real kindness) the exceptional quality of the food in the restaurant and the comfort of the bedrooms. It was simply perfect. Thank you very much, don’t change anything, please!
